Update from Wellington

Wellington coordinator Dave Burcher is well on the way to taking ownership of the southern patch with great support from Auckland coordinator Steve Sobota. They report the first seven weeks of training has literally flown by. Dave says after 25 years of teaching, making the decision to change direction and career pathways was one he approached with some trepidation. “But I am so pleased that I did and that I was selected to be the Wellington Coordinator for Big Buddy. Getting to know the team in Auckland has been great and Steve has been an amazing man to be doing my training with. Having his experience and expertise to guide me has made the transition into the role smooth.”

Dave says he’s getting to know a few of the Big Buddies and Little Buddies in the Wellington area as he gets further into the role and is looking forward to making greater contact with the Wellington community. “So, if you haven’t heard from me soon … don’t be afraid to give me a call and let me know how you are going. I’d love to hear from you and find out a little more about what’s going on.”

Steve says Dave has picked up all facets of the role really well. “We’re getting out and meeting men and boys and networking in the Wellington community. Dave has interviewed his first potential BB and he spent some time up in Auckland getting to know the staff and hopefully feels welcome and part of the BB team. In five weeks he will be flying on his own in the Wellington office but with close support from me and the Big Buddy HQ.Steve S and Dave B at BB Wgtn office
